Experience

Since I was a sophomore in high school, a variety of job positions have given me a well-rounded perspecive on the working environment generally and the engineering field specifically.

LeonardoMD

Shortly after I moved to California to pursue my master's degree, I took a position at a small start-up company in San Diego called LeonardoMD. LeonardoMD is a medical practice management software company which also provides Electronic Health Records (EHR) for small practices nationwide.

In October, 2006, I started at LeonardoMD as a part-time sales associate, and I continued to work for LeonardoMD all through school. Upon graduation, I became a full-time project manager, involved in marketing campaigns, lead development and processing, website design, and internal process auditing. I am currently working for LeonardoMD while I seek an engineering position in the field of biomedical devices.

The Institute for Advanced Technology

When I graduated high school in May, 2003, I was honored to be offered a summer internship at Applied Research Laboratories (ARL) in Austin, TX. I was assigned to work under Dr. John Mallick in the pulsed-power research department at the Institute for Advanced Technology (IAT). Over the summer, I studied the dynamics of electrostatic lifters and created a physical model by which to asses utility and scalability of the lifters. At the end of the internship, my research won first place among thirty interns in the program, and I was offerd a part-time engineering position at IAT.

I continued to work for IAT while I was earning an undergraduate degree full-time at the University of Texas (UT). During these three years I spent most of my research time working on synchronous alternators as a pulsed-power supply. Implementing the control system for two scaled-down three-phase generators required extensive circuit design, simulation, and construction, Digitial Signal Processor(DSP) programming, interfacing, and controlling, as well as the safe implementation of high-current load simulation.

The Daily Texan

During my freshman year at UT, I took on a position at the Daily Texan, the official UT student publication. My job involved the delivery of over 6,000 newspapers every weekday morning between the hours of 4:00am-7:00am. I took this as a second job for one semester as a way to generate extra income to save up for a study abroad trip to Milan, Italy the following summer.

Although this job mostly involved physical labor and early hours, I enjoyed the excersize and the opprotunity to help the student press. This position also gave me an opprotunity to demonstrate everyday reliability, and my work at the Texan earned me an outstanding reference for future employers.

The Courtyard Tennis Club

As a sophomore in high school, I took on a summer job to earn extra money while I was out of school. I took a job at the Courtyard Tennis Club, a country club near my parents' house. I worked in the grill, taking customer orders, making their food, and managing the register. Often, I was working alone and leared to multitask in order to complete all of the customers' orders simultaneously.

My primary responsibility was coordinating lunches for the children's camps that the club hosted each week. On any given week, about fourty kids would all need to eat lunch at the same time, and it was my responsibility to make sure that it was arranged promptly.
